Can I try the software before I buy it?

The software is distributed as a shareware - try before buy. 
We give 30 days trial to allow people to test the software and prove that the software is really working.
You can download the program and test it free of charge for 30 days, at the end of the 30 days trial you will need to choose whether you buy it or uninstall it.

I would like to buy, can I get the software on an hard copy?

The software cost $19.95, after placing an order within 24h you will get registration letter with unlock codes via email.
If you also want to get the software on hard copy (CD-ROM) delivered to your home you will have to pay extra payment of $14.95 and in two weeks you will get it to your home.

Of course that within 24h you will also get the regular registration email with the unlock codes in order to allow you start enjoying the software before the CD-ROM arrives.

If my computer crash, will I need to buy the software again?

Absolutely not, you will not have to pay again!
After you will purchase the program you will get registration email which includes download instruction and unlock codes.
In a case of a crash you will be able to download the program again without any charge, if you also lost your unlock codes just contact our support team and they will provide you all the needed information.

Of course you will need to provide us personal details in order to allow us to verify that you really bought the software.

Where should I enter my registration detail (unlock codes)?

In order to unlock the registered version do the following:
Go to:  Start --> Programs --> bProtected --> Register bProtected

In this screen you should enter your unique codes which you got in your registration email.

Will bProtected slow down my computer?

We designed bProtected in order to perform the protection with minimum overhead possible. You will not notice any decrease of performance of your computer, unless you assign separate attributes to thousands of files and folders. If you are concerned about the performance, try to reduce the number of items that have non-default attributes. For example, instead of assigning the hidden attribute to a group of files or subfolders of the same parent folder, make the parent folder hidden instead (but remember that you might notice a slowdown if you assign separate attributes to thousands of files and folders).

Which operating systems does the software support?

bProtected supports Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP and all types file systems like FAT, NTFS etc.

Will the program encrypt or modify my files?

You don't have to worry because bProtected doesn't encrypt or modify your files, it protects your files dynamically. The program intercepts requests from other programs to open files or list the contents of folders and then allows or rejects such requests according to the settings set by the administrator. The files and folders themselves remain undisturbed during this process, in their original condition. This is what so special in bProtected...

What is the Emergency Disk?

The Emergency Disk Creation Utility encrypts your administrator password into a floppy disk. This disk will allow you to CheckIn bProtected in case you forget your administrator password, it's highly recommended to create an Emergency Disk and don't forget to store the disk in a safe place.

I forgot my password, how do I use the Emergency Disk?

Insert your Emergency Disk to your floppy drive and then try to CheckIn bProtected, but in the password screen instead of typing your administrator password (which you forgot) just press ALT+P and the program will try to read your administrator password from the Emergence Disk.

If from some reason you get an error message while installing bProtected please restart your computer and then try to install again (99% of the problems are solved after restart).
